    If you are looking for a loyal, loving, devoted and kid-friendly family pet, you have come to the right place!! I have been breeding AKC Golden Retrievers for over 15 years. We have our dogs OFA (hip and heart) and CERF (eye) cleared. My kennel is located in a small town in Central Pennsylvania, mid way between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg. "Sago Palm" or "Cycad"
Poisoning Alert- It has come to our attention that many home improvement stores are selling a houseplant that can cause serious poisoning in pets and children. The plant is called the “Sago Palm” or “Cycad”. It is also referred to as “The Oldest Known Plant”. It is used in outdoor landscaping in Southern States, but can only survive as a houseplant in the North. All of this plant, including the seeds and root ball are toxic. Signs of illness first appear about 12 hours after ingestion and include gastrointestinal sign such as vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy. The toxins in the plant lead to severe liver failure with progressive weakness, jaundice, bruising and bleeding and other signs of liver failure that lead to death. It is estimated that 75-80% of animals ingesting this plant will die in spite of aggressive medical treatment. If you have one of these plants in your home you will want to be sure to keep it away from pets and children, preferably by disposing of it safely in a covered trash can or “rehome” it with someone who does not have pets or young children in the household

Over the weekend the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. They loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog Calypso decided that the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn't acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk . Half way through the walk, she had a seizure and died instantly. 

Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company's website, this product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats. 

Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey's, and they claim that 'It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it.'

Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other Garden supply stores, contains a lethal ingredient called ' Theobromine'. It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks. Theobromine is in all chocolate, especially dark or baker's chocolate which is toxic to dogs. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.

The Commandments for a Responsible Pet Owner

My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be very painful.

Give me time to understand what you want of me.

Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting

the right food, I've been  in the sun too long , or my heart might  be getting old and weak.

Take care of me when I get old, You too will grow old.

Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say "I can't bear to watch it" or, "Let it happen in my absence" Everything is easier for

me if you are there.

The Golden Commitment

The Golden Retriever lives to give. They give you all they have,                 

whether in performance or companionship.

They need to be with people, and they are everyone's best friend.

They are active, shed a lot, have a need to carry things, and tend to dig.

Therefore, if you are looking for a watchdog or a one man dog, if you

cannot tolerate dog hair, or if you have little time or energy to

devote to a dog, this is not the breed for you. We suggest you contact the

American Kennel Club for more information on breed characteristics.

We are so excited!!!!!

One of our puppies has been entered in the Pro Plan Webminster Online Dog Show.

Bailey has made it to the top ten in the Sporting Dog class! We are so proud!!

It was nice meeting with you and we want to thank you for allowing us to visit your kennels on Saturday.

We were impressed with both your goldens and your kennels. All of your goldens were so very happy,

healthy and beautiful. Captain Morgan or Magic Ice were absolutely adorable with pleasing personalities.

Your website pictures of your kennels is good but seeing them left a very remarkable impression.

We definitely would like to have a pup from your kennels to be a "little brother" for our Moses. As we discussed

we'd like to have a pup born in the fall so he could come home with us near the holidays when I take several

weeks off work.

We will give you a call one evening this week to make arrangements with you if that would be agreeable.

MEET Clifford

Hi Marilyn:
Sorry I haven't been in touch for a while. I just wanted to let you know, Clifford is a BIG star in our little town. He made the Billboard for a bank advertisement. He is in the ad with my father-in-law or "Poppy", as Cliff knows him. Poppy takes Clifford to the bank everyday (for our business), everyone at the bank just feel in love with Clifford, next thing I know he's on three billboards in our county!!
Cliff hasn't let all this stardom go to his head, he's still the greatest pup in the world. We just love him!! Hope all is going well with your business, or you still breading puppies? So many people ask me where we got Clifford.
